Job Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Manager/Controller for a direct hire opportunity in Irvine, CA within the legal services industry. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys hands-on leadership, accurate financial reporting, process improvement, and partnering closely with executive finance leadership.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Accounting Manager/Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, lead the close process, supervise accounting staff, and support financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, audits, and internal controls. Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and established controls.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow reporting, annual audit coordination, and tax preparation.
- Supervise, mentor, and support accounting team members while identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000 to $110,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Oversee day-to-day corporate accounting operations for a professional services environment.
- Lead month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, tax preparation, and financial analysis.
- Partner with the CFO on accounting operations, process improvements, and special projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5 to 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or similar accounting leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
- Proven experience managing month-end close processes.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work hands-on while supervising and mentoring accounting staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation is a plus, but not required.
- Professional services or law firm accounting experience is preferred, but not required.
