We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity in Ventura, CA within the aerospace and defense industry. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys managing core accounting operations, improving processes, partnering with business stakeholders, and ensuring compliance in a highly regulated environment.
The Accounting Manager will play a key role in leading month-end close, forecasting, budgeting, accounts payable oversight, cash controls, sales and use tax compliance, and government contracting accounting requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and support the Accounts Payable Specialist to ensure accounting responsibilities are completed accurately and on time.
- Lead and oversee the month-end close process, including reconciliations, reporting, and related accounting activities.
- Manage monthly forecasting, annual budgeting, and financial analysis to support business planning.
- Monitor sales and use tax collection requirements and oversee associated filings.
- Approve weekly pay runs and review cash control reconciliations.
- Partner with key stakeholders to develop, monitor, and manage accounting and business performance KPIs.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $90,000 to $135,000 per year.
- Job type: Direct hire.
- Location: Ventura, CA.
- Supervise accounting operations, including accounts payable, pay runs, reconciliations, and month-end close.
- Lead forecasting, budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting analysis.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, GAAP, internal controls, and government contracting requirements.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support KPI development, reporting accuracy, and operational decision-making.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a senior accounting or finance role.
- At least 2 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, accounting principles, and internal controls.
- Experience working with financial software and ERP systems.
- Ability to manage deadlines, lead accounting processes, and maintain accuracy in a regulated environment.
- Strong communication, leadership, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
- Prior experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or government contracting environments.
