About the Opportunity

Growing and innovative manufacturing company in the Seattle area, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations and support strategic business initiatives. This position will play a critical role in managing the accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing operational financial insights to support production and business growth.

The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation combined with experience in manufacturing environments, including inventory accounting, cost accounting, and financial analysis.


Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and inventory accounting.

Manage and oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.

Prepare and review monthly financial statements and management reports.

Maintain accurate inventory valuation and ensure compliance with accounting standards related to manufacturing operations.

Oversee cost accounting functions, including standard costing, variance analysis, and product costing.

Analyze manufacturing costs, labor efficiencies, material usage, and production performance metrics.

Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production teams to improve financial visibility and operational performance.
Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections.

Ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.

Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.

Implement and strengthen internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures.

Supervise and mentor accounting staff while fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Support ERP system enhancements, process automation, and reporting improvements.

Additional Skills

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience within a manufacturing environment.
2+ years of accounting leadership or management experience.
Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and inventory management.
Experience with standard costing, inventory reconciliations, and variance analysis.
Knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with ERP systems in a manufacturing setting.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications

CPA or CMA certification preferred.
Experience supporting manufacturing operations with annual revenues exceeding $20 million.

Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience with ERP platforms such as Epicor, SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Infor, or similar manufacturing systems.

Experience managing audits and working with external tax and audit partners.
