Accounting Manager

The Accounting Manager will oversee key aspects of accounting operations and financial management to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction/solar energy industry, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of job costing, WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting, and contractor-related financial processes.

Key Responsibilities
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare and analyze Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and job cost analysis
Assist in preparing financial statements, budgets, and forecasts
Oversee cash management, including monitoring daily cash flow, ensuring adequate cash reserves, managing debt obligations, and forecasting future cash requirements to support business operations and growth
Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and regulatory requirements
Manage multi-state sales and use tax reporting and compliance, ensuring accurate filing and adherence to varying state and local regulations
Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party professionals
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices to enhance efficiency
Maintain and track fixed assets and depreciation schedules
Record purchases, disposals, and transfers of equipment or property
Supervise and mentor accounting staff to ensure professional growth and development
Provide leadership and training to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred)
Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience
Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and construction billing (AIA documents and lien waivers)
Proficiency in accounting software (experience with Sage 300, Procore, or similar preferred)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with percentage-of-completion revenue recognition
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments
Experience managing and mentoring accounting teams
