Job Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Clerk for a direct hire opportunity in Columbia, SC within the financial services industry. This role is a strong fit for an accounting professional with 3-5 years of experience who enjoys accurate transactional work, organized recordkeeping, and supporting a high-performing corporate accounting team.
The Accounting Clerk will assist with day-to-day accounting activities, including invoice processing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, data entry, and financial documentation. This opportunity offers a stable professional environment, supportive leadership, collaborative teamwork, and exposure to corporate accounting processes within a respected financial services setting.
Candidates who are detail-oriented, dependable, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with accounting systems and Excel will be well positioned for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Process invoices, payments, deposits, and other accounting transactions accurately and on time.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and general ledger support.
- Maintain organized financial records, documentation, and electronic files in accordance with internal procedures.
- Review accounting data for accuracy, research discrepancies, and escalate issues when needed.
- Support month-end close activities, routine reporting, and accounting projects.
- Communicate professionally with internal teams, vendors, and business partners regarding accounting-related questions.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $40,000 to $50,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support daily corporate accounting functions including data entry, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
- Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger-related tasks.
- Maintain accurate financial records and support month-end accounting activities.
- 3-5 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience.
- Working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and basic general ledger processes.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and common accounting or financial systems.
- Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the financial services industry.
- Experience supporting corporate accounting or centralized finance operations.
- Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting software.
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and basic reporting.
