Job Summary
We are seeking an Accounting Clerk for a contract/temporary opportunity in Columbia, SC. This role is ideal for an early-career accounting professional with 1-2 years of experience who enjoys accurate data entry, organized financial recordkeeping, and supporting day-to-day accounting operations.
The Accounting Clerk will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoice processing, bank reconciliations, and basic financial reporting in a stable accounting and auditing services environment. Key Responsibilities
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate financial data in accounting systems, spreadsheets, and records.
- Process invoices, payments, and supporting accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation.
- Reconcile bank statements, account activity, and financial records to help ensure accuracy.
- Assist with preparation of basic financial reports, account summaries, and routine documentation.
- Support accounting department clerical duties, including filing, scanning, record organization, and data verification.
- Communicate with internal team members to help resolve invoice, payment, or account discrepancies.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: $40,000 to $50,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Support daily accounting operations through data entry, invoice processing, and account maintenance.
- Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable documentation, payment tracking, and reconciliations.
- Maintain organized accounting records and help verify the accuracy of financial transactions.
- Prepare basic reports and support routine accounting department workflows.
- 1-2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or related clerical accounting experience.
- Familiarity with invoice processing, payment tracking, bank reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, data entry, and standard office software.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial data.
- Strong organizational skills, dependability, and ability to meet deadlines in a professional office environment.
- Effective communication skills and a team-oriented approach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in accounting and auditing services or another professional services environment.
- Prior experience supporting both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
- Familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems in addition to QuickBooks.
- Ability to identify discrepancies and assist with resolving routine accounting issues.
