The City has a request in our Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department (Parks Division) for a temporary Accounting Clerk. Please see the assignment details below:

•Education: High school graduation or satisfactory equivalent (GED) supplemented by college level courses in accounting.
•Experience: Four years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance of financial, fiscal, and related statistical records.
•Highly Desired Qualifications:
• Experience in principles and practices of financial record keeping.
• Experience in accounting and/or payroll practices and procedures.
• Experience in basic fixed asset accounting practices and procedures.
• Experience in business math.
• Experience with personal computer operation and software applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Adobe Pro, etc).
• Experience working for a government agency.

Details:
Duration: 1 year or 1,000 hours (Whichever comes first)
Schedule: Flexible on schedule. Looking at around 40 hours per week at the start of assignment for training. Once trained, looking to reduce schedule to around 20 hours per week. Currently the team comes in at 6:30 and works until 4:00 with a ½ hour lunch.
Brief overview of assignment:
• Process invoices, create requisitions, batching invoices weekly, create change orders, debit memos, journal entries,
• Track contract expenditures and maintain accurate financial records
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in account records; determine and apply corrective actions as needed
• Coordinate with City Finance on accounting procedures and financial issues
• Process incoming receipts and payments
• Assist new vendors to account setup
• Order and manage office supply inventory
• Retrieve and analyze data from OneSolution to generate reports
• Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)
• Checking insurance and DIR compliance
• Perform other duties as assigned
