Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant for a contract/temporary opportunity in Rosemead, CA. This role is ideal for someone with strong data entry skills, basic accounting knowledge, and experience supporting high-volume payment processing or accounting operations.

As an Accounting Assistant, you will support Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, journal entries, payment processing, batch balancing, and general administrative accounting tasks. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on accounting and payment processing experience in the energy and utilities industry while working with a supportive, fast-paced team.

Key Responsibilities

- Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Prepare monthly journal entries and support general accounting and administrative duties.
- Process incoming mail payments by extracting checks and payment documents.
- Enter payment information into company systems and balance payment batches.
- Research discrepancies, resolve exceptions, and respond to customer and internal inquiries.
- File documents, manage correspondence, and assist with special accounting projects as needed.

Compensation and Benefits

- Salary Range: $47,736 to $50,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support daily accounting operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payment processing.
- Prepare journal entries and assist with monthly accounting activities.
- Enter, balance, and research high-volume payment batches.
- Respond to inquiries and maintain accurate accounting documentation.

- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1 to 2 years of accounting, payment processing, or administrative experience.
- At least 1 year of data entry or payment processing experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles.
- Strong data entry accuracy and 10-key by touch skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and time management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Accounts Payable and/or Accounts Receivable experience.
- High-volume payment processing or lockbox processing experience.
- Payment research and exception resolution experience.
- Experience with BancTec Pay Courier, OPEX, or similar remittance processing equipment.
