Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant for a temp-to-hire opportunity in Dixon, CA. This role is ideal for someone with 1 to 2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or office experience who enjoys working with numbers, researching discrepancies, and supporting a busy accounting department.

The Accounting Assistant will perform a variety of accounting and administrative functions, including escrow accounting support, reconciliations, reporting, indexing, audits, and general email request management. Training will be provided, making this a strong opportunity for a motivated candidate who is eager to learn, grow, and build a long-term career path in accounting and finance.

This position offers a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, a supportive team environment, and the chance to gain hands-on experience with important financial processes in a fast-paced office setting.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage the escrow accounting general email inbox and respond to internal accounting-related requests.
- Support bookkeeping functions, including indexing, audits, reconciliations, and account research.
- Research and resolve trust reconciliation discrepancies, return items, overdrawn escrow reporting, and positive pay items.
- Assist with monthly and yearly IBA reporting, revenue reconciliation cash pushes, and escrow-related reporting tasks.
- Process items related to home warranty, Disclosure Source, BankServ, FTI remote deposits, and general department workflows.
- Perform administrative and operational support duties as needed while maintaining accuracy, organization, and deadline compliance.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay: $16 to $17 per hour.
- Job Type: Temp-to-Hire.
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
- Training will be provided.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Manage escrow accounting email requests and related accounting support tasks.
- Perform bookkeeping, indexing, audits, reconciliations, and discrepancy research.
- Support reporting processes, including monthly, yearly, escrow, and revenue reconciliation reporting.
- Assist with positive pay, return items, remote deposits, and other accounting operations.

- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, banking, or an office environment preferred.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work accurately with financial records, reports, and account details.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and accounting procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

- Previous experience supporting escrow accounting, trust reconciliations, banking operations, or financial reporting.
- Familiarity with account reconciliation, discrepancy research, remote deposits, positive pay, or return item processing.
- Prior experience working in a deadline-driven accounting or finance department.
