We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accounting Assistant to support our firm’s daily financial operations. This role is responsible for processing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with month-end and year-end accounting processes. The ideal candidate thrives in a deadline-driven environment, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and maintains a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Accounting Functions
Process incoming checks and credit card payments
Enter and post payments into accounting and case management systems
Prepare and process bank deposits
Reconcile trust and operating accounts
Perform monthly bank reconciliations
Maintain accurate client ledgers and financial records
Draft and process disbursement letters and checks
Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
Review and verify invoices for accuracy
Support month-end and year-end closing processes
Communicate with management regarding discrepancies or financial issues

Qualifications

Minimum 2–3 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Experience with law firm or trust accounting preferred
Strong knowledge of general accounting principles
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism and confidentiality
