Accounting Assistant

Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a passion for non-profit work? Our established Covina non-profit is looking for a skilled Accounting Assistant to join our dedicated finance team. You will be a vital part of our operations, ensuring the integrity of our financial records and supporting our mission by maintaining fiscal accuracy.
This role requires a proactive approach, strong analytical skills, and a meticulous eye for detail. You will work closely with the Finance Director to streamline our accounting processes and maintain compliance.
Key Responsibilities
The Accounting Assistant will be responsible for the core functions of our daily financial operations, including:
Accounts Payable/Receivable Management: Overseeing all A/P and A/R processes, including timely invoicing, deposits, and managing weekly check runs.
Bookkeeping & Reporting: Utilizing QuickBooks to accurately record financial transactions and generate essential reports.
Month-End Support: Assisting the Finance Director with critical month-end closing activities.
Financial Compliance: Collaborating with the team to ensure adherence to all financial policies and regulatory requirements.
Record Keeping: Maintaining a highly organized and auditable system of financial records and files.
Required Experience & Skills
5-7 years of progressive experience in an accounting role.
Strong Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop), Microsoft Excel (including complex formulas), and Outlook.
Solid financial acumen and a comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Exceptional attention to detail and proven mathematical aptitude to guarantee accuracy in all transactions.
Expertise in Microsoft Excel and experience with other accounting software.
Preferred Qualifications
Non-Profit Experience: Direct experience working in a non-profit accounting environment is strongly preferred.
Medical Billing: Experience in medical billing, especially Drug Medi-Cal billing, is highly desired.
Education: An Associate's Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Software Bonus: Familiarity with Netsmart PCNX.
