We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll and Accounting Specialist to join the team. This role is essential in ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining financial records, and supporting compliance with internal policies and external regulations. Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
• Operate standard office equipment and personal computer.
• Interpret and apply policies, contracts, and regulations.
• Communicate effectively with staff, vendors, and external agencies.
• Perform accurate arithmetic calculations.
Payroll Duties:
• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll.
• Audit timecards and personnel change forms for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain payroll records including W-2s, tax withholdings, deductions, and direct deposits.
• Ensure compliance with garnishments and transmit withholdings to benefit providers.
• Calculate FLSA overtime, retroactive pay, and payroll adjustments.
• Respond to internal and external payroll information requests.
• Assist employees and supervisors with timecard issues.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee information.
Other Duties:
• Compose routine correspondence.
• Maintain files and financial records.
• Research and extract financial or operational data.
• Post and maintain journals.
• Monitor capital asset inventory.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
Experience:
• Two years of financial recordkeeping or accounting experience.
• Public sector experience preferred.
• Governmental accounting principles.
• Office procedures and standard equipment.
• Word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
• A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of required experience.
