Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Accountant for a contract/temporary opportunity in Perris, CA, supporting finance operations within a government and public sector environment. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with 3-5 years of experience who enjoys working with financial records, reconciliations, invoices, payments, payroll support, and day-to-day accounting transactions.

The Accountant will provide technical accounting and administrative support to the Finance Department, helping ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and properly maintained. Key Responsibilities

- Process, review, and maintain accounting and financial records related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, cashiering, inventory, remittances, and cash balancing.
- Assist with invoice processing, payment preparation, transaction coding, account reconciliation, and financial documentation.
- Research discrepancies, review accounting records, and support resolution of transaction or reporting issues.
- Maintain accurate records for capital assets, projects, financial transactions, and supporting documentation.
- Support daily Finance Department operations while ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
- Provide technical accounting support and handle more complex transactions with greater independence based on experience level.

Compensation and Benefits

- Pay Range: $39 to $52 per hour.
- Job Type: Contract/Temporary.
- Location: Perris, CA.



Required Qualifications and Skills

- Support daily accounting operations across accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, remittance processing, cashiering, and reconciliations.
- Prepare, process, review, and maintain financial transactions, invoices, payments, and supporting documentation.
- Research discrepancies, reconcile records, and assist with accurate maintenance of accounting data.
- Support technical accounting functions, capital asset records, project accounting, and other finance department needs.

- 3-5 years of accounting, finance, or related financial operations experience.
- Strong understanding of accounting processes, financial documentation, reconciliations, and transaction processing.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, cashiering, cash balancing, or related accounting functions.
- Ability to review financial data accurately and identify discrepancies or documentation issues.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, time management, and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Comfortable working with financial systems, spreadsheets, reports, and electronic records.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in government, public sector, municipal finance, or a highly regulated accounting environment.
- Experience supporting capital assets, project accounting, inventory, remittance processing, or complex reconciliations.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience providing lead, technical, or senior-level accounting support.
- Familiarity with financial policies, internal controls, and public sector accounting procedures.
