Seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support accounting operations for a public-sector organization. This position is ideal for an accounting professional with strong full-cycle accounting experience and knowledge of GAAP and governmental accounting.


What You’ll Do

• Maintain accounting records across multiple divisions and departments.

• Prepare and post journal entries, including accruals, allocations, cash activity, capital assets, and debt service.

• Reconcile general ledger and subsidiary accounts and resolve discrepancies.

• Review A/P, A/R, payroll, inventory, and capital asset activity for accuracy.

• Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with financial statements.

• Support internal and external financial, compliance, and performance audits.

• Ensure compliance with GASB, GAAP, federal/state regulations, and financial policies.

• Document accounting procedures and workflows.

• Respond to accounting questions from staff, auditors, and outside agencies.

• Stay current with governmental accounting standards and reporting requirements.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field OR equivalent qualifying experience.

• 4+ years of progressive full-cycle accounting or auditing experience.

• Experience with intermediate-level accounting functions and reconciliations.

• Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, GAAP, and accounting cycles.

• Public-sector or public transportation accounting experience is preferred.

• CPA licensure process participation is a plus.

• Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication skills.

• Proficiency with computers and standard office equipment.

• Ability to communicate effectively in person and by phone.

• Ability to read printed materials and computer screens.

• Ability to travel to District facilities as needed.

• Reliable attendance and consistent performance.
