Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Accountant for a direct hire opportunity with a growing construction company in Ventura, CA. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys owning a broad mix of accounting responsibilities, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
The Accountant will work closely with leadership and project teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and timely project cost tracking. Key Responsibilities
- Process weekly payroll for approximately 20 employees using Sage 100C.
- Manage full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoice processing, coding, vendor payments, invoicing, and collections.
- Perform job cost coding to accurately track and allocate project-related costs.
- Record journal entries, maintain general ledger activity, and assist with month-end, semi-annual, and year-end close processes.
- Complete bank reconciliations, manage cash deposits, and maintain accurate financial documentation and controls.
- Conduct financial analysis and collaborate with project managers using Procore to align accounting data with project progress.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $35 to $40 per hour.
- Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch.
- Location: Ventura, CA.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Manage core accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and reconciliations.
- Support construction accounting processes, including job cost coding and project-related financial tracking.
- Assist with financial reporting, analysis, and close processes.
- Use accounting and project management systems to maintain accurate financial records and support business operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- 3 or more years of accounting experience required, preferably in the construction industry.
- Strong experience with financial analysis, journal entries, general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Hands-on payroll processing and cash management experience required.
- Proficiency with ERP systems required, with Sage 100C strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Procore or similar construction project management software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs and data analysis functions.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Construction industry accounting experience.
- Sage 100C experience.
- Procore experience or experience with similar construction project management platforms.
- GC Pay experience.
- Strong understanding of job costing and project-based accounting.
