Accountant

Duties:
• Perform general accounting tasks including journal entries, reconciliations, and maintenance of financial records.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports.
• Assist with annual audits and fiscal year-end closing.
• Monitor and reconcile revenues and expenditures across multiple funds.
• Prepare adjusting and closing entries as needed.
• Support preparation and review of the annual budget.
• Maintain subsidiary ledgers and general ledger accuracy.
• Participate in or oversee grant tracking, debt service, and investment reporting.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
• Assist in or lead internal audits and financial system improvements.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 2 years of professional-level accounting experience, preferably in a governmental or public agency setting.
• Knowledge of GAAP, governmental accounting, and budgeting practices.
• Ability to analyze and reconcile financial data and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Experience with financial audits and year-end closing.
• Understanding of fund accounting, grants, and public finance.
