Short Description:

A Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure products are produced safely, efficiently, and in accordance with quality standards. They manage and coordinate production staff, monitor workflow, and resolve operational issues to meet production targets. The role involves implementing process improvements, maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, and preparing reports on production performance. Production Supervisors help ensure operational efficiency, product quality, and a safe working environment. Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily production operations to ensure output, quality, and efficiency targets are met
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of production operators, technicians, and support staff
  • Monitor equipment performance and production processes, implementing corrective actions as needed
  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards across the production floor
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to enhance skills, performance, and adherence to procedures
  • Prepare production schedules, allocate resources, and monitor workflow to optimize efficiency
  • Collaborate with maintenance, quality, and engineering teams to resolve operational challenges
  • Maintain accurate records of production data, staff performance, and operational incidents
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including process optimization and cost reduction projects
  • Respond to emergencies, equipment failures, or operational disruptions to minimize downtime

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred
  • Experience: 3–7 years of experience in production or manufacturing, with at least 1–3 years in a supervisory role
  • Leadership: Ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team effectively
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of production equipment, processes, and operational controls
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement effective solutions
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA regulations, and quality standards
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for coordinating teams, reporting, and liaising with management
