Short Description:

A Production Operator is responsible for operating machinery and equipment to manufacture products efficiently and safely according to production schedules and specifications. They monitor production processes, perform quality checks, and troubleshoot equipment or process issues as they arise. The role involves maintaining accurate production records, adhering to safety and regulatory standards, and collaborating with team members to meet operational goals. Production Operators help ensure consistent product quality, timely output, and efficient manufacturing operations. Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor production equipment and machinery to ensure continuous, efficient workflow
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) to maintain product quality and safety standards
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting on production equipment
  • Record production data, including output, downtime, and process variables, in logs or digital systems
  • Load raw materials, monitor processing stages, and adjust equipment settings as needed
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, process deviations, or quality issues to supervisors
  • Assist in start-up, shutdown, and cleaning procedures for production lines
  • Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to resolve production challenges
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper handling of materials
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimize production efficiency and reduce waste

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in manufacturing or process operations preferred
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations
  • Technical Knowledge: Understanding of production equipment, processes, and operational controls
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues effectively
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in monitoring production parameters, documenting data, and maintaining compliance
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, OSHA regulations, and proper material handling
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for reporting issues and coordinating with teams
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, lifting, and operating machinery
