A Metal Fabricator is responsible for cutting, shaping, and assembling metal components to create finished products or structures according to specifications. They operate machinery such as shears, presses, and welding equipment, and perform measurements and inspections to ensure accuracy and quality. The role involves interpreting blueprints, collaborating with production teams, and maintaining safe and efficient work practices. Metal Fabricators help produce durable, precise, and high-quality metal products for a variety of industries. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine fabrication requirements
  • Cut, shape, and assemble metal components using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment
  • Perform welding, grinding, bending, and other metalworking processes to create finished products
  • Inspect and measure finished components for accuracy, ensuring compliance with quality standards
  • Maintain and operate fabrication machinery, including presses, shears, and CNC equipment
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and other fabricators to ensure project specifications are met
  • Repair or modify metal components as needed for maintenance or custom projects
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and production timelines
  • Ensure compliance with workplace safety standards, including proper handling of tools, metals, and welding equipment
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance fabrication efficiency, quality, and safety

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in metal fabrication, welding, or industrial manufacturing preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in metal fabrication, welding, or machining
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metalworking processes, materials, and fabrication techniques
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot fabrication challenges and implement effective solutions
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and CNC machinery
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in measuring, cutting, assembling, and inspecting metal components
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA regulations, welding safety practices, and proper use of PPE
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for coordinating with team members, supervisors, and engineers
