A Mechanical Fitter is responsible for assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical components and machinery according to technical specifications. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical components, machinery, and equipment according to technical drawings and specifications
  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Diagnose mechanical faults using hand tools, precision instruments, and diagnostic equipment
  • Replace, adjust, or align components such as gears, bearings, shafts, and hydraulic systems as required
  • Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and operators to identify recurring mechanical issues and implement solutions
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and assembly activities for reporting and compliance
  • Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Assist in the fabrication or modification of mechanical parts and assemblies as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper storage of tools, parts, and equipment
  • Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, maintenance, or fitting
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and assembly techniques
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical faults efficiently
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and diagnostic equipment
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in assembly, alignment, and documentation of maintenance activities
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for collaborating with team members, engineers, and supervisors
