Short Description:

A Maintenance Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing maintenance strategies to ensure the reliable and efficient operation of machinery, equipment, and facilities. They troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform preventative maintenance, and recommend improvements to enhance system performance and longevity. The role involves collaborating with operations, production, and technical teams to plan maintenance schedules and support continuous improvement initiatives. Maintenance Engineers help minimize downtime, reduce operational costs, and maintain safety and compliance standards. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and analytical skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and perform maintenance activities on mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal facility and equipment performance
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize equipment downtime and extend operational life
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex equipment failures, implementing effective repair solutions
  • Supervise and provide guidance to maintenance technicians and support staff during routine and emergency maintenance work
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair history using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and safety teams to optimize equipment performance and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
  • Assist in the design, installation, and commissioning of new systems or equipment upgrades
  • Monitor and control maintenance budgets, spare parts inventory, and procurement of necessary materials
  • Ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Facilities Engineering; relevant certifications preferred
  • Experience: 3–7 years of experience in maintenance engineering, facilities management, or industrial equipment maintenance
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and automation systems
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using diagnostic instruments, hand and power tools, and computerized maintenance systems
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe maintenance practices
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for coordinating with teams, vendors, and management
  • Project Management: Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple maintenance projects and tasks efficiently
