Short Description:

A Field Service Engineer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing complex equipment or systems at client sites to ensure optimal performance and reliability. They troubleshoot technical issues, perform diagnostics, and provide training or guidance to end users on proper operation. The role involves documenting service activities, coordinating with engineering and support teams, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Field Service Engineers help maintain customer satisfaction and support the efficient operation of critical equipment. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and excellent communication abilities are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair complex technical equipment and machinery at client sites
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and reliability
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or software issues using testing devices, diagnostic tools, and technical manuals
  • Calibrate, adjust, and configure equipment according to manufacturer specifications and client requirements
  • Document service activities, repairs, and calibration results in service logs or computerized systems
  • Provide on-site technical support and training to clients or operators on proper equipment use and troubleshooting
  • Collaborate with engineers, operations teams, and clients to resolve recurring technical issues
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables required for field service operations
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements during all field activities
  • Assist in equipment upgrades, retrofits, and system modifications to enhance performance and functionality

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical, or related technical field; technical certifications preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in field service, equipment maintenance, or technical support
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software systems in specialized equipment
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions on-site
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measurement devices
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in service work, calibration, and documentation of maintenance activities
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and compliance with regulations
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, engineers, and technical teams
