Short Description:

A Field Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing on-site maintenance, repairs, and inspections of equipment, machinery, or facilities to ensure reliable and safe operation. They troubleshoot technical issues, replace parts, and conduct preventative maintenance while adhering to safety protocols and manufacturer guidelines. The role involves documenting work performed, coordinating with clients or internal teams, and responding promptly to service requests. Field Maintenance Technicians help minimize downtime and support the efficiency of operations in the field. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to safety are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Perform on-site maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic equipment
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and minimize downtime
  • Respond promptly to service calls and diagnose issues using appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Replace or repair faulty components, such as motors, pumps, valves, belts, and wiring
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage in logs or computerized systems
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and other technicians to resolve recurring equipment problems
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and retrofits to enhance functionality and efficiency
  • Maintain an inventory of tools, parts, and supplies required for field maintenance activities
  • Provide technical support and guidance to operators on proper equipment usage and maintenance practices

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in field maintenance, repair, or equipment servicing
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions in field conditions
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in performing maintenance, repairs, and documenting service records
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with supervisors, operators, and team members
