Short Description:

A Facilities Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections on building systems, equipment, and infrastructure to ensure safe and efficient operations. They troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC issues, perform preventative maintenance, and respond to service requests. The role involves maintaining accurate records, coordinating with contractors or vendors, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Facilities Maintenance Technicians help maintain functional, comfortable, and well-maintained environments for building occupants. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and attention to safety are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and disruption
  • Install, replace, and repair fixtures, equipment, and building components as needed
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and service schedules
  • Assist in managing facility projects, including renovations, upgrades, and safety improvements
  • Monitor building systems to ensure compliance with safety codes, regulations, and company standards
  • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams to coordinate maintenance and repair work
  • Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and maintenance supplies and order replacements as required
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA and company safety protocols
  • Participate in emergency response, including power outages, system failures, or other facility incidents

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational certification in facilities maintenance, electrical, HVAC, or related field preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or related roles
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, as well as hand and power tools
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve maintenance issues efficiently
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and documentation
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of OSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe work practices
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members, vendors, and management
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple maintenance requests, and maintain detailed records
