An Equipment Maintenance Assistant is responsible for supporting the upkeep, repair, and routine maintenance of machinery and equipment to ensure reliable and safe operations. They assist maintenance technicians with inspections, troubleshooting, and replacement of parts, while following established safety protocols. The role involves maintaining maintenance logs, organizing tools and supplies, and helping implement preventive maintenance schedules. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist maintenance technicians in performing routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on machinery and equipment
  • Clean, lubricate, and adjust equipment components to ensure optimal performance and longevity
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic issues under supervision
  • Maintain and organize tools, spare parts, and maintenance supplies for easy access
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and service logs accurately
  • Support equipment installations, upgrades, and retrofits as needed
  • Observe safety protocols and assist in implementing lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance work
  • Assist in monitoring equipment performance and reporting potential issues to senior technicians
  • Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to minimize equipment downtime
  • Participate in training sessions to develop technical skills and knowledge of equipment systems

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or technical certification preferred
  • Experience: 0–2 years of experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or industrial environments; on-the-job training often provided
  • Technical Knowledge: Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to follow instructions and assist in troubleshooting equipment issues
  • Tools & Equipment: Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic instruments preferred
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in documenting maintenance activities and following technical instructions
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices and compliance with OSHA or company policies
  • Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with technicians, supervisors, and operations staff
