Short Description:

A Crushing and Screening Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting crushing and screening equipment used in mining, construction, or aggregate production. They monitor machinery performance, perform routine maintenance, and ensure materials are processed efficiently and safely. The role involves inspecting equipment, documenting maintenance activities, and coordinating with production teams to resolve operational issues. Crushing and Screening Technicians help maintain continuous production flow while adhering to safety and quality standards. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to safety are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Operate, maintain, and repair crushing and screening equipment used in mining, quarry, or aggregate production
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals
  • Adjust, align, and calibrate crushers, screens, conveyors, and feeders according to manufacturer specifications
  • Replace worn or damaged components such as belts, rollers, bearings, and crusher liners
  • Monitor production processes and equipment performance, making adjustments to optimize throughput and quality
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to resolve recurring equipment problems
  • Ensure all equipment and work practices comply with safety regulations and company policies
  • Assist in equipment upgrades, retrofits, or modifications to improve efficiency and reliability

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational certification in mechanical, industrial, or heavy equipment maintenance preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience operating or maintaining crushing and screening equipment in mining or aggregate operations
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems used in crushing and screening operations
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring devices
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in performing maintenance, repairs, and documenting service records
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with operators, engineers, and supervisors
