Short Description:

A Conveyor Belt Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing conveyor systems to ensure efficient and safe material handling operations. They inspect belts, rollers, motors, and other components, perform routine maintenance, and troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues. The role involves collaborating with production and maintenance teams, documenting work performed, and adhering to safety protocols. Conveyor Belt Technicians help minimize downtime and support continuous operational efficiency. Strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to safety are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair conveyor belt systems and related equipment in manufacturing, distribution, or industrial facilities
  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and technical manuals
  • Adjust, align, and tension conveyor belts according to manufacturer specifications and operational requirements
  • Replace worn or damaged components, such as rollers, pulleys, bearings, and motors
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage
  • Collaborate with engineers, operators, and maintenance teams to troubleshoot recurring issues and implement improvements
  • Ensure all conveyor systems comply with safety regulations and company policies
  • Assist in upgrades, retrofits, or modifications to improve conveyor efficiency and reliability
  • Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to restore production operations

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in mechanical or industrial maintenance preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in conveyor maintenance, mechanical repair, or industrial equipment servicing
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems used in conveyor operations
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot complex equipment issues and implement effective solutions
  • Tools & Equipment: Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, diagnostic instruments, and precision measuring devices
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in performing maintenance, repairs, and documentation
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety practices, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory compliance
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for coordinating with team members, supervisors, and operators
