Short Description:

A Construction Project Engineer is responsible for managing the technical and engineering aspects of construction projects to ensure successful planning, execution, and completion. They coordinate with architects, contractors, and project managers to review designs, resolve engineering issues, and maintain compliance with safety and building codes. The role involves monitoring project progress, preparing reports, and supporting cost control and quality assurance initiatives. Construction Project Engineers help ensure projects are completed efficiently, safely, and according to specifications. Strong technical knowledge, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing construction projects from design through completion
  • Review project plans, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with engineering standards and client requirements
  • Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to ensure timely and cost-effective completion
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical and operational issues
  • Conduct site inspections to verify work quality, safety compliance, and adherence to project specifications
  • Prepare engineering reports, progress updates, and documentation for management and stakeholders
  • Support procurement and materials management by reviewing specifications, tracking deliveries, and ensuring quality standards
  • Implement and maintain construction safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies
  • Assist in resolving design, construction, and operational challenges through technical problem-solving
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by recommending process enhancements and lessons learned

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field required; professional licensure (PE) preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in construction project engineering or related roles
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in engineering design software, project management tools, and construction documentation
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical data to make informed decisions
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for coordinating with project teams, clients, and subcontractors
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical, operational, and design challenges efficiently
  • Attention to Detail: Precision in reviewing plans, specifications, and project documentation
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and project priorities in a dynamic construction environment
