A Construction Project Architect is responsible for overseeing the design and execution of building projects, ensuring architectural plans are functional, compliant, and aligned with client expectations. They collaborate with engineers, contractors, and project managers to guide design implementation, address construction challenges, and maintain quality standards. The role involves reviewing drawings, conducting site visits, and coordinating design adjustments throughout the construction process. Construction Project Architects help ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet aesthetic and regulatory requirements. Strong design expertise, project management skills, and effective communication are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop architectural designs, plans, and specifications for construction projects, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and client requirements
  • Collaborate with clients, engineers, contractors, and project managers to translate design concepts into buildable solutions
  • Review and modify construction documents, including drawings, schematics, and 3D models, based on feedback and project needs
  • Conduct site visits to assess conditions, gather measurements, and ensure design intent is being implemented accurately
  • Oversee design integration with structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for project feasibility
  • Participate in project meetings, presentations, and client consultations to communicate design progress and resolve issues
  • Manage design documentation, revisions, and approvals throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure all design work adheres to sustainability, safety, accessibility, and environmental standards
  • Coordinate with contractors during construction to address design-related challenges and provide clarifications
  • Stay updated on architectural trends, materials, construction technologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture required; professional licensure (AIA or state license) preferred
  • Experience: 3–7 years of experience in architectural design, construction documentation, or project-based architecture
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CAD, BIM, Revit, SketchUp, and other architectural design software
  • Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of architectural principles, construction methods, and building codes
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in drawings, specifications, and compliance with design standards
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for client interactions, presentations, and team collaboration
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address design challenges, coordinate multi-disciplinary inputs, and optimize constructability
  • Project Management: Ability to manage timelines, revisions, and coordination across multiple stakeholders
