A Construction Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and processing payroll for construction employees, ensuring accurate and timely payment in compliance with labor laws and company policies. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Process payroll for construction employees, including hourly, salaried, and union workers, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Collect, review, and verify timesheets, work hours, and job codes for multiple construction projects
  • Calculate wages, overtime, deductions, and benefits according to company policies and union agreements
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, reports, and documentation for auditing and regulatory purposes
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA, FLSA, and union requirements
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with HR, accounting, and project management teams to reconcile payroll, job costs, and labor allocations
  • Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, wage reports, and related compliance documentation
  • Assist with payroll audits and resolve discrepancies identified by internal or external reviewers
  • Stay updated on payroll regulations, wage laws, and construction-specific labor requirements

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in construction or union environments
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with payroll software, timekeeping systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in calculating pay, deductions, and reporting
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll laws, labor regulations, and union agreements
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies efficiently
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for interacting with employees and management
  • Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and complex payroll data simultaneously
