Short Description:

A Construction Architectural Designer is responsible for creating and developing building designs, plans, and drawings that meet client requirements, building codes, and aesthetic standards. They collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to translate concepts into detailed architectural plans and ensure design feasibility. The role involves preparing renderings, reviewing project specifications, and supporting the construction process through design adjustments and documentation. Construction Architectural Designers help ensure that projects are visually appealing, functional, and compliant with regulations. Strong design skills, technical knowledge, and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Develop and prepare architectural drawings, plans, and 3D models for construction projects using CAD or BIM software
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to ensure design accuracy, feasibility, and compliance with project requirements
  • Review project specifications, building codes, and zoning regulations to ensure designs meet legal and safety standards
  • Participate in design meetings and client presentations to communicate concepts, revisions, and progress updates
  • Modify and revise designs based on client feedback, engineering input, or construction constraints
  • Assist in the preparation of construction documents, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and details
  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and internal teams to resolve design issues and ensure constructability
  • Conduct site visits to gather measurements, assess conditions, and verify design implementation
  • Maintain organized records of drawings, revisions, and project documentation for future reference
  • Stay current on industry trends, materials, construction methods, and sustainable design practices

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Architectural Design, or related field required; master’s degree or professional licensure preferred
  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in architectural design, construction documentation, or related field
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CAD, BIM, Revit, SketchUp, or other design software
  • Design Knowledge: Strong understanding of architectural principles, construction methods, and building codes
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in preparing drawings, specifications, and construction documents
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written skills for client interactions, presentations, and team collaboration
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to address design challenges, resolve conflicts, and optimize solutions for constructability
  • Creativity & Innovation: Ability to develop functional, aesthetically pleasing, and sustainable design solutions
