Short Description:

A Senior Construction Project Manager is responsible for overseeing large-scale or complex construction projects from planning through completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. They lead project teams, manage client relationships, and coordinate contractors, architects, and engineers to achieve project goals. The role involves overseeing budgets, schedules, safety compliance, and quality control while resolving issues that may arise during construction. Senior Construction Project Managers play a strategic role in driving project success and organizational growth. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all phases of construction projects from planning and budgeting through execution, completion, and closeout
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Lead cross-functional teams including architects, engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel to coordinate project activities
  • Manage contract negotiations, scope of work definitions, and change orders with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Monitor project progress, financial performance, and risk factors, implementing corrective actions as needed to maintain alignment with goals
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, quality standards, and client specifications throughout all project phases
  • Conduct regular site visits and progress meetings to review work quality, safety practices, and adherence to project timelines
  • Review and approve project documentation including RFIs, submittals, progress reports, and payment applications
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships through effective communication and issue resolution
  • Mentor and develop junior project managers, engineers, and site supervisors, promoting professional growth and best practices in project delivery

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field required; master’s degree preferred
  • Experience: 8–12 years of experience in construction project management, with proven success leading large-scale or complex projects
  • Leadership: Strong ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and coordinate efforts across multiple stakeholders
  • Project Management: Proficiency in project scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and resource allocation
  • Software: Expertise with project management and construction software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam)
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret contracts, drawings, and specifications while identifying potential design or cost issues
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client interactions, reporting, and negotiation
  • Problem-Solving: Strategic thinking and adaptability in resolving project challenges, delays, and budgetary constraints
