Short Description:

A Retail Customer Service Associate is responsible for assisting customers with purchases, inquiries, and returns while ensuring a positive shopping experience. They maintain product knowledge to provide recommendations, process transactions accurately, and uphold store appearance and merchandising standards. The role involves handling customer concerns professionally and supporting sales goals through friendly, efficient service. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Greet customers and provide friendly, professional assistance to ensure a positive shopping experience
  • Respond to customer inquiries about products, services, pricing, and promotions both in person and over the phone
  • Process sales transactions accurately, including cash handling, credit card payments, returns, and exchanges
  • Maintain knowledge of current merchandise, store layout, and special promotions to effectively assist customers
  • Restock shelves, organize displays, and ensure merchandise is properly labeled and presented
  • Resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and escalate complex issues to management when necessary
  • Assist with inventory management, including stock counts, receiving shipments, and maintaining accurate records
  • Follow store policies and procedures to ensure loss prevention, safety, and compliance with company standards
  • Collaborate with team members to achieve sales goals and maintain efficient daily store operations
  • Keep the sales floor, fitting rooms, and checkout areas clean, organized, and well-stocked

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework in business or retail management preferred
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in retail, customer service, or sales environments
  • Customer Service: Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor when interacting with customers
  • Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills for assisting customers and coordinating with team members
  • Sales Skills: Ability to identify customer needs, recommend products, and support store sales initiatives
  • Technology: Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems, basic computer skills, and familiarity with mobile payment tools
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling transactions, stocking merchandise, and maintaining store displays
  • Teamwork: Cooperative attitude and reliability in working with colleagues to meet store goals and maintain smooth operations
