Short Description:

A Personal Banker is responsible for building and maintaining relationships with clients by providing personalized financial services and product recommendations. They assist customers with opening accounts, processing transactions, and offering guidance on loans, credit, and investment options. The role involves assessing client needs, cross-selling banking products, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Personal Bankers serve as trusted advisors, helping clients achieve their financial goals while supporting branch sales objectives. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and customer service skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Assist customers with opening new accounts, including checking, savings, CDs, and IRAs, while explaining account features and benefits
  • Provide personalized financial guidance to help clients meet their banking and investment goals
  • Process customer transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan payments accurately and efficiently
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell bank products and services, such as credit cards, loans, or insurance, based on customer needs
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Resolve customer inquiries, complaints, and account discrepancies in a professional and timely manner
  • Conduct financial reviews with clients to assess creditworthiness and recommend suitable lending or savings products
  • Assist with loan applications, gather necessary documentation, and support underwriting and approval processes
  • Meet or exceed sales and service goals by building strong, trust-based relationships with clients
  • Maintain accurate customer records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with data protection and banking regulations

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted
  • Experience: 2–4 years of experience in retail banking, financial services, or customer relationship management
  • Financial Knowledge: Understanding of consumer banking products, credit principles, and regulatory compliance (e.g., BSA, AML)
  • Sales & Service: Proven ability to meet performance targets through consultative selling and strong customer service
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain financial concepts clearly
  • Technology: Proficiency with banking software, CRM systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy in handling financial transactions, documentation, and compliance reporting
  • Professionalism: High ethical standards, discretion, and the ability to maintain client confidentiality
