Short Description:

A Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, running, and monitoring production equipment to ensure efficient and accurate manufacturing processes. They load materials, adjust machine settings, inspect finished products for quality, and perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime. The role involves following safety protocols, reading technical instructions or blueprints, and maintaining production records. Machine Operators work as part of a manufacturing team to meet production goals and quality standards. Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor machinery or production equipment according to established procedures and safety standards
  • Load raw materials or components into machines and ensure continuous operation during production runs
  • Inspect parts or finished products for quality, accuracy, and consistency using gauges, calipers, or visual checks
  • Make minor machine adjustments, tool changes, or calibrations to maintain optimal performance and product specifications
  • Record production data such as output quantities, material usage, and equipment performance in logs or digital systems
  • Identify and report equipment malfunctions, defects, or safety hazards to maintenance or supervisory staff
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, and preventive maintenance on machines to reduce downtime
  • Follow work orders, blueprints, and technical specifications to ensure accurate product output
  • Assist with material handling, packaging, and labeling of finished goods as required
  • Comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and quality control standards throughout all production activities

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training in manufacturing or machining preferred
  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience operating manufacturing machinery or production equipment
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and production instructions accurately
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Basic understanding of machine operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting techniques
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality control and precision in measuring, inspecting, and producing parts
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift moderate loads, and work in noisy or industrial environments
  • Safety Awareness: Knowledge of workplace safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe production environment
  • Teamwork: Reliable communication and collaboration with supervisors, maintenance teams, and co-workers in a fast-paced setting
