Short Description:

A Construction Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of construction crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and according to specifications. They interpret blueprints, assign tasks, and monitor work quality and progress on-site. Construction Foremen also enforce safety regulations, manage equipment and materials, and communicate with project managers about schedules and potential issues. They play a key role in maintaining productivity and resolving on-site challenges. Strong leadership, communication, and technical skills are essential for success in this role.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of construction crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget
  • Interpret and implement blueprints, drawings, and project specifications on-site
  • Assign tasks to workers based on project priorities, skills, and available resources
  • Monitor work progress and conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and project requirements
  • Oversee the use and maintenance of construction tools, equipment, and materials
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to address site issues and maintain workflow efficiency
  • Enforce safety regulations and conduct toolbox talks or safety briefings with team members
  • Track and report daily work progress, labor hours, and material usage to management
  • Resolve on-site problems or conflicts quickly to minimize project delays
  • Train and mentor crew members to improve productivity and job performance

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or technical certification in construction management preferred
  • Experience: 5+ years of construction experience with at least 2 years in a supervisory or foreman role
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and equipment operation
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate crews while maintaining productivity and morale
  • Safety Awareness: In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and construction site safety procedures
  • Communication: Excellent verbal communication and coordination skills for working with teams and management
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to quickly address and resolve construction or personnel issues on-site
  • Organization: Strong planning and time management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
