Short Description:

Develop standards and procedures for data warehousing and the design and development of data information systems and information management functions. Enforce data integrity, security, and stewardship. Provide data structure, integration, and intelligence solutions. May design and develop databases and systems to acquire, store and analyze a company’s business intelligence. A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in a Math or Computer Science Program is required.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Guide business partners in developing and implementing Business Intelligence (BI) related strategic goals that will assist them in achieving their objectives. 
  • Direct, influence, and support projects in implementing and using new BI software tools and systems.
  • Leads the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
  • Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs.
  • Develop the data layer, cubes, metadata, and report functionality.
  • Leads the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
  • Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
  • Work with project managers to ensure that data entry, retrieval, change and delete functions meet business requirements for project completion.
  • Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary.
  • Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary.
  • Act as an evangelist for BI benefits throughout the organization, promoting healthy usage and adopting standards and best practices.
  • Evaluate and influence the selection of database/data warehouse components, including hardware performance, dimensional and relational database management systems, Extract Transform Load (ETL) best practices, metadata management tools, and database design solutions.
  • Conduct research and provide recommendations regarding BI products, services, and standards to support customer procurement, retention, and development efforts.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to members of the team.
  • Develop, design, implement, enhance, maintain and analyze database systems, queries, and procedures in SQL Server and other environments.
  • Develop complex SQL SSIS packages for ETL data for Data Warehouse projects and assignments and be able to modify existing Data Warehouse structure to incorporate data from disparate data sources.
  • Perform development and unit testing of ETL processes (various platforms).
  • Develop, test, and implement solutions that involve databases, OLAP cubes, and reporting components.
  • Perform initial data load and data validation in a production environment.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer sessions with team members, business and IT partners.
  • Facilitate user requirement discussions with the business and drive architecture and design consistent with enterprise strategy.
