About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Prevailing Wage Specialist to manage certified payroll and compliance across multiple states. This role is critical to ensuring that our company meets all federal, state, and local prevailing wage requirements for public works and government-funded projects.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Davis-Bacon, state-specific prevailing wage laws, and multi-state payroll compliance, along with excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and process certified payroll for multiple states and projects in compliance with Davis-Bacon Act, state prevailing wage laws, and local regulations.
Prepare and submit weekly certified payroll reports using electronic platforms such as LCPtracker, eMars, or similar systems.
Maintain accurate records of job classifications, wage determinations, and fringe benefit calculations.
Ensure subcontractor compliance by reviewing certified payrolls and verifying wage rates.
Coordinate with project managers, HR, and accounting to ensure all employees and subcontractors are paid accurately and on time.
Stay current on federal and state labor compliance updates and apply new regulations as needed.
Support audits, investigations, and reporting requests from government agencies.
Assist in onboarding and training staff on prevailing wage and compliance procedures.
Reconcile payroll reports and maintain supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in prevailing wage, certified payroll, or construction payroll compliance.
Strong knowledge of Davis-Bacon, DIR, and multi-state prevailing wage laws.
Proficiency in certified payroll software (e.g., LCPtracker, eMars, Elation Systems) and ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, ADP, or similar).
Understanding of union and non-union payroll structures.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work with field, accounting, and compliance teams.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines across states and projects.
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
