Are you a strategic HR professional passionate about fostering a fair, inclusive, and growth-oriented workplace? We’re seeking an Assistant HR Manager – Labor Relations & Training to join our dynamic team and play a pivotal role in shaping employee relations and development across multiple business units.
What You’ll Do:
As the Assistant HR Manager, you’ll be instrumental in driving labor relations strategies, ensuring compliance with labor laws and agreements, and leading impactful training programs. You’ll collaborate closely with HR leadership to manage complex employee relations matters, support performance management, and promote a culture of accountability and continuous learning.
Key Responsibilities:
-Provide expert guidance on performance management, coaching, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
-Lead thorough investigations into employee concerns and policy violations, delivering clear findings and recommendations.
-Ensure alignment with Master Labor Agreements and labor compliance standards.
-Design and implement annual training plans covering compliance, onboarding, leadership development, and workplace culture.
-Facilitate engaging training sessions (live and virtual) and evaluate their effectiveness.
-Develop career pathing tools and micro-learning resources to support employee growth.
-Analyze employee relations metrics and exit trends to identify risks and recommend proactive solutions.
-Collaborate on employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and culture-building events.
-Maintain and update HR policy content and communication materials.
What You Bring:
-Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or related field.
-5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong focus on labor relations and employee engagement.
-Proven track record in designing and delivering training programs; LMS experience is a plus.
-Deep understanding of employment laws and labor relations (NLRA, NLRB, ADA, FMLA, EEO, FEHA).
-Strong interpersonal, coaching, and facilitation skills.
-Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and HR systems; ability to analyze and present data effectively.
-Willingness to travel as needed.
-Experience with Union environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
-SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
-Formal training in investigations, mediation, or labor relations (e.g., Cornell ILR, NELI).
-Experience in unionized or multi-site environments, especially within construction, manufacturing, or industrial sectors.
