Position Overview:
The Claims Representative position is an essential part of the team, managing injury and damage portions of insurance claims. Incumbents provide the support our customers need, while ensuring claims are resolved swiftly. Claims Assistants analyze and determine the extent of coverage and liability concerning loss and damages on a claim.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Communication:
• Negotiate with customers, attorneys, and other insurance carriers to reach settlements.
• Prioritize and contact various parties associated with the claim to ensure efficient communication.
Analytical Skills:
• Interpret policies and analyze gathered details to determine the best course of action.
• Gather and evaluate information on the status and treatment needed for those injured in an accident.
• Determine liability and settle bodily injury and general liability claims.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree and one year of work experience in the insurance industry; preference given to those with background in claims liability
• In lieu of a degree, a total of five years of work experience, some of which must be claims handling in the insurance industry
• Experience and ability to make decisions, problem solve, plan, prioritize and organize
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Excellent customer service skills
