Got the training, but can't get the experience. . .

Have a BA, but haven't kept my teaching cert up. Got my license for Medical Coder, but all jobs available ask for at least a years experience. How the hey can I get a years experience when nobody will hire me without having prior experience? This is a catch 22. Old enough to know better, but don't.
